Supporting Devon & Cornwall Police Heritage.
Based in Devon the Friends group was formed in May 2011 in order to support the fine historic collections of Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and the work of the Curator. Our charity is a not for profit organisation recognised as charitable by HMRC for tax purposes. We are also members of the British Association of Friends of Museums.
The Historic collections of Devon and Cornwall Constabulary remain one of the most complete collections in the UK still attached to its Police Force. Although it continues to be stored at Okehampton Police station it is being carefully catalogued by a team of dedicated volunteers under the guidance of the curator. The collection holds artefacts relating to the history and formation of Devon and Cornwall Constabulary from the mid 1800’s to the present day. To date over 11000 records consisting of objects, books, photographs and archives have been entered on to the collections database.
